BASE STATION

Everything you need to explore 10 self-guided Missions with characters and storylines to keep kids engaged.
The Piper Make Base Station is the base kit for all Piper Make products, includes the Raspberry Pi microcontroller which serves as the brains of all the missions you’ll find on our free, drag-and-drop coding platform make.playpiper.com.

As you help Piperbot and Pip explore Mars in our storyline, you’ll learn computational thinking, basic circuitry, and so much more.

SENSOR EXPLORER

Four new missions, an incredible way to measure the world around you!
The Sensor Explorer is widget for the Piper Make Base Station or the Piper Computer Kit.

As you meet new characters with Piperbot and Pip in our storyline (including some new Zomar friends and an enigmatic Color Wheel), you’ll learn how you can use sensors to measure color, distance, and temperature in the world around you

GAME CONTROLLER

Build and code your own D.I.Y. Game Controller and then use it to play classic arcade games!
There’s no better way to engage the gaming enthusiast in your life with the love of STEM learning, from building and coding your controller yourself to playing through the incredible educational content of Minecraft Education Edition.

Play through three missions on the Gaming Expedition and eight mini-games.

LIGHT SHOW

Explore the intersection of technology and art.
Create your own scrolling messages and send them along to friends or create brilliant art with lights! With Light Show, use your creativity and flair to design with technology and light. Explore game design by programming LED lights to mimic the game Tetris.

Play through 2 missions on the Design Expedition.

BEAM BREAK

Explore concepts of acceleration, velocity, and movement using toy cars!
It's a race between Piperbot and Pip: Who will win?

Using infrared sensors to detect when your car “breaks the beam” while racing down a track, users will learn the basics of using sensors in the physical world and doing calculations in code – all while racing to the finish!

MOTION BALL

Learn about motion in three dimensions – by tossing a ball!
Build and code your own gyroscopic ball and toss it around to play Marsball (the Martian take on baseball), with Piperbot and Pip!

As you learn to play Marsball with Piperbot you’ll learn how spin can relate to speed – an incredibly valuable kinetics lesson for not only our future physicists but also any athlete/technologists out there!

SOLAR HOUSE

Explore how solar energy can power our homes!
It's more important than ever to understand how we can harness energy from the world around us in environmentally-conscious ways. And what better way to learn those concepts early than with your very own solar house?

With a solar panel atop the roof, you'll build circuits to understand how to save solar energy, simulate the sun with your own flashlight, and use it to light up your house.

SOIL SENSOR

Explore agriculture technology and rock out!
Smart Farming is the newest technology found across the world to help build a more sustainable world. Explore the Soil Sensor experiencing how farmers are using technology to build a more efficient farm and agricultural techniques.

ROBOTIC ROVER

Build your own Rover and code Piperbot and Pip's escape from the angry Zomars!
Designed to inspire creativity and critical thinking about robotic design and inspiration, the Rover will get users thinking about how robots move in space and how to use sensors to detect space.

As you help Piperbot and Pip escape an angry crowd of Zomars, you’ll learn the relationship between rotation and linear speed and steer using the ultrasonic range finder – important learning points for any self-driving car enthusiasts out there!

ROBOTIC WALKER

Build your own robotic walker and code it to walk, dance, and detect walls to compete in the Mars Creature Competition!
Designed to inspire creativity and critical thinking about robotic design and inspiration, the Walker will get users thinking about how robots move in space and how to use sensors to detect space.

As you help Piperbot and Pip compete in a Mars Creature Competition, you’ll learn how sequential angle changes can let your robot walk, dance, and detect obstacles to stop – a must-have for future technologists out there!

Play through 3 three missions on the Robotics Expedition.

PULSE

Explore how human physiology works – by sensing your own!
Ever had your heart rate measured with one of those sensors in the doctor’s office? In this mission, you’ll build your own.

As you help Pip and Dr. Lizard power Piperbot up in our narrative based on planet Trezed, you’ll learn how your heart pumps blood throughout your body – a foundational biomedical concept.
